Superior Recreational Products, in partnership with MAPA Recreation, is excited to donate new playground equipment to the City of Asheville, NC, through its charitable initiative, Superior HOPES, in response to the devastating flooding that followed Hurricane Helene in 2024.
The City of Asheville's Story
Hurricane Helene left the City of Asheville facing widespread devastation, with severe flooding, damaged infrastructure, and neighborhoods profoundly impacted. Homes, businesses, and public spaces suffered significant losses, disrupting daily life across the community. In the aftermath, Asheville has shown resilience, coming together to support recovery and rebuild with strength and compassion.
The Stephens-Lee Community Center was one of the only places in Asheville with power during Hurricane Helene. Because of this, the community center became a beacon of hope where residents could receive help and relief supplies.
With Asheville families and neighborhoods still working to recover from the hurricane’s impact, Superior Recreational Products is honored to contribute a new playground that will serve as a beacon of hope and resilience for local children and families. A year later, a bright orange, yellow, and teal playground stands tall at the very place that provided hope to residents during the hurricane and now it provides a little spot of joy for the Asheville residents.

What is Superior HOPES?
Superior HOPES is Superior Recreational Products’ charitable giving program. It focuses on supporting communities in need by donating playgrounds and recreational equipment that create safer and uplifting spaces. Through Superior HOPES, the company partners with local organizations to bring the power of play to children and families—especially in times of hardship—helping communities heal, connect, and thrive.
The donated equipment is a tower-style playground featuring a soaring deck height, multiple slides and climbers, and a large shade topper. Superior Recreational Products hopes the new space will provide a place for families to gather, children to thrive, and communities to reconnect as recovery continues.
This donation is part of Superior’s broader commitment to giving back through the Superior HOPES program. By focusing on projects that uplift communities in times of crisis, Superior Recreational Products continues its mission to inspire play and strengthen connections.
