Families in the City of Hurst, Texas, have a refreshed reason to visit Rickel Park—a brand new, thoughtfully designed playground that brings play, shade, and style together in one welcoming space.
Recognizing the diverse age ranges of children in the community, the City of Hurst upgraded Rickel Park with two distinct playground structures:
A tower playground for children ages 5–12 offers thrilling opportunities for climbing, sliding, and imaginative play. This structure encourages older children to explore and challenge themselves in a fun, age-appropriate setting.
A smaller structure for children ages 2–5 ensures even the littlest park-goers have a safe and exciting place to play, with features tailored to their developmental needs.
By utilizing two separate playground structures, the city made sure that children of all ages have a space to enjoy—without one age group outshining the other.
Texas summers are no joke, so shade was a must-have in this playground renovation. Both play structures are covered with integrated shade canopies that help protect kids from the sun and keep play surfaces cooler during hot days.
To complete the experience, a shaded swing set was added—giving kids a breezy place to swing while staying out of direct sunlight.
Playgrounds aren’t just for kids. The City of Hurst also added benches around the playground’s perimeter, providing a comfortable place for parents and caregivers to sit, relax, and supervise. It’s a small detail that makes a big difference in how families enjoy the space.
To tie it all together, the playground features our Robin Egg color scheme—a modern, cheerful mix of beige, brown, and azure blue. The color palette gives the park a clean, natural look with a pop of playfulness that appeals to kids and adults alike.
With opportunities for all ages to play, relax, and connect, this updated playground is sure to be a community favorite for years to come.
