When Holly Hill set out to reimagine Sunrise Park North, their goal was to create a coastal-inspired play destination that reflected the community’s relationship with the water, while providing a safe, modern space for families to gather and play. Today, that vision has come to life through a vibrant new playground design.
Blending imaginative themes, climbing challenges, and low-maintenance surfacing, the new Sunrise Park North playground delivers adventure for all ages.
At the center of the playground is a ship-themed play structure that invites children to set sail on make-believe voyages across the ocean. With interactive elements and multiple play routes, this structure encourages dramatic play, exploration, and nonstop fun.
To complement the nautical theme, the design team added two playful fish-themed spring riders—the Clownfish Rider and Blue Tang Rider. These whimsical pieces offer motion play that helps younger children develop balance and coordination while sparking ocean-themed storytelling.
For older children, the Ascend Thrill Tower with Slide takes center stage. This impressive net-based climbing tower challenges kids to climb, scale, and balance their way to the top before sliding back down for another round of adventure. The rope-course style encourages risk-managed play, building strength, confidence, and problem-solving.
Florida sunshine is no match for the playground’s thoughtful shade design. To keep visitors cool and comfortable, the site features:
Ornamental palm-style shade elements
A custom shade system with three triangular shade sails
These stunning architectural features not only protect children from UV exposure but also enhance the beach-inspired visual theme.
A favorite among park guests, the playground’s two-bay arch swing frame accommodates up to four swing seats, providing a classic play experience that children of all ages enjoy. Whether soaring solo or swinging alongside a friend, this activity encourages social interaction, sensory play, and full-body movement.
To complete the ocean-front motif, the project features poured-in-place (PIP) rubber surfacing that mimics sandy shores meeting ocean waves. The organic layout not only looks beautiful but it provides a durable, low-maintenance, and accessible foundation for the entire playground.
With nautical theming, innovative climbing, and shade protection integrated throughout, the new Sunrise Park North playground delivers a unique coastal play experience that reflects the character of Holly Hill.
